For me it seems like the squeaky wheel gets the grease. There are many things I could do but it's the things that are demanding attention that get done. Many church leaders have said that the harder decisions in life are not choices between good and bad, instead they are often between a good thing and a better thing. For me, I have decided that family comes first. This includes my wife and kids obviously, but also includes my sisters and parents. If they ask for help, even if it's during work, I stop what I'm doing and provide the help I can. I also read their emails immediately and respond right away. Work is important, but I don't aspire to be well known for my work. I'd much rather be known for how I am as a dad and husband (and brother and son).
