I read today from ScienceDaily that researchers are finding new ways to see if someone has depression, by a simple test. Plus, they can monitor responses to medicine therapy and get results within 5-6 days, instead of waiting a full month. That’s awesome!
From: Researchers May Have Found Test For Depression
“ScienceDaily (Mar. 12, 2008) — Researchers from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine have discovered that a change in the location of a protein in the brain could serve as a biomarker for depression, allowing a simple, rapid, laboratory test to identify patients with depression and to determine whether a particular antidepressant therapy will provide a successful response.
“This test could serve to predict the efficacy of antidepressant therapy quickly, within four to five days, sparing patients the agony of waiting a month or more to find out if they are on the correct therapeutic regimen,” said Mark Rasenick, UIC distinguished university professor of physiology and biophysics and psychiatry.
Despite decades of research, the biological basis of depression is unknown, and the molecular and cellular targets of antidepressant treatment remain elusive, although it is likely that these drugs have one or more primary targets.
Rasenick said the discovery could help millions who suffer from undiagnosed depression or receive unsuccessful treatment.”
Amazing new research findings and discoveries! Imagine… just taking a simple test to find out if you have a chemical imbalance in your brain. I’m excited for new technology, future research, and continued progress in the health field.

Well it’s February now and we’re past Valentine’s Day, when I was going to make my Valentine’s Day Resolutions, remember? Instead of making New Years Resolutions. I had to push it back two months since I wasn’t ready. LOL. So guess what… I’m not ready even now. Oh crap, you mean life goes on? I don’t just get to step on the brakes and slow down for a while? Shoot! I didn’t sign up for this! Lol.
It’s really chilly here in Utah, for those who aren’t living in this state. It’s been a loooooonnnngg winter and I hear from everyone that they’re tired of the snow already. Well I fully agree! It’s time for Spring!
Anyone have any fun plans I can live vicariously through? I need something to look forward to. Ya know, something like an exotic trip or a weekend getaway. C’mon people, if I can’t come up with anything myself, you’ve gotta help me out on this one. Please?
So yeah, that’s all I have to say for now. Well maybe I have one Valentine’s Resolution so far… That is to relax and take more time for myself in the relaxing department and try to not stress over things as much as I currently do.
Can you believe it’s the end of January 2008 already?! That’s insane! This month went by so fast. One of my friends told me recently that you just have to have the mentality of a 60-year old, then you won’t think time flies by and you won’t be as upset about time.
Funny huh!? I Laughed right Out Loud! Haha.
Anyway, new years always seem to bring new things to every aspect of your life, right? There’s change going on at work. There’s change going on with friends. There’s change you have to take a look at in yourself that needs to happen soon. There’s all kinds of stuff people want to change at the change of a new year. It’s incredible. And I’ve never been all that fond of change, so these things are hard on me, and take time getting used to. It’s not that I won’t accept change, change is great usually – when I can look back on it, but when I’m in the middle of the change, it’s not so fun and worth the anxiety I get. Oh well. Gotta live right?
…oh crap, i just got carried away on the phone and STILL haven’t posted this blog! I meant to get it in while it was still January!! hmm, silly marci!
A post was written earlier this month on how to get your pages spidered and indexed within hours on Lavaball.com. Google is a comprehensible database full of information all over the internet, right? So wouldn’t it be natural for them to want to grasp whatever the ‘hot trends’ are among the internet users? That’s exactly why pages with certain topics get indexed days earlier than other pages written about a not-so-trendy topic. Google wants to be the first and initial search engine users can access these ‘hot trends’ so they are constantly on the lookout for them. And the topics change constantly! You could check the hot trends one time during the morning and it’ll be completely different in the evening.
For example, I want to write a post on the Neutrogena wave that is making the Neutrogena brand popular. For drugstores and retail stores, Neutrogena has become the most popular brand for their cosmetic line. Many doctors and dermatologists encourage the use of Neutrogena’s products and therefore are promoting their low-cost brand. The average person may not have enough funds in the bank to consistently spend large sums solely for their skincare and/or makeup. People have to resort to the next best thing. In large retail stores, such as WalMart and Target, you will find that Neutrogena has a consistent fan base. Their products seem to prove the best results for any skincare brand among these low-cost retailers. And therefore, they naturally have become the ‘favorite’ among consumers. Sure they have great competition to work with, but it’s clear that Neutrogena will succeed any competition they go after for their target audience. I myself fully recommend the Neutrogena brand and I am merely an average consumer.
So now, let’s see how long it takes for this blog post to be spidered and indexed. I will keep watch and let you know when I notice it’s indexed by Google, just because it happens to be #23 on the ‘hot trends’ list.
Within TWELVE MINUTES, this page was spidered by Google.
OMG, the tasering doesn’t stop!!!
What goes on in the power-hungry minds BEFORE a taser incident? Watch this… LOL!

So I just had a dinner date with two of my very best friends. I don’t FULLY realize how much I miss people until I’m there with them hanging out again! That’s so stupid! I need to embrace the moments I get to spend along the way, not take them for granted!! Man, time flies. We ended up staying there about an extra hour just catching up on each other’s lives! I think we got more evil stares from the waitress than pennies loose in my purse! LOL! (There were plenty of other tables available, ma’am.) Anyway, life comes at you fast, when you least expect it, I guess. Both of my close friends have either gone through or are going to go through huge milestones in their lives, getting married!!, and it’s amazing to think back to just like 8 months ago when we were all carefree, single, loving life living together and checking out those hot boys we always spotted. I can’t even believe it – I’ve lived in this stinkin cold basement for like 5 months now! I mean, that’s crazy! I remember moving in and telling my parents, I gotta at least stick this out for a month. Just to try it out. And it’s been 5? Wow.
Anyway, it’s good to have people in your life who care about you. When they currently aren’t available or if you yourself are unintentionally “pushing” them away, life SUCKS and you think you’re all alone, that there’s no one in the entire world who cares about you at some points in time. And it’s these times, when I go home to family for vacation, when I meet with my long lost friends whom I love dearly, this is when I can see – right through my own dang eyes! – that there ARE people who care about me and who may have been thinking about me in those lonely moments but I myself refuse to believe that because I don’t think so highly of myself. Wow, just wow. I’m overwhelmed I guess. I don’t realize how much fun, life, and love that friends bring to your life, until it’s gone for a while and I’m missing it. And yeah, those awkward times can be VERY awkward, but in the end – IT’S WORTH IT, duh!!! Even I can admit that. Ga’ak!
Now that this sounds very much like a journal entry, I’ll cut and end it. Sorry for rambling but thanks for reading if ya did.
I don’t post all that often on this here blog, but when I do, it has to have been something special for me to write about it, am I right??? Lol! Okay, enough, Marci! Dang it, shut your mouth-I MEAN stop typing!!! K, later homies. Special shout out to my really good friends who I went to dinner with tonight, you girls have really got it goin on!!!

Hey everyone! HAPPY NEW YEAR! Wow 2007 went by so fast! I can’t believe it’s 2008 already! Time flies!
So I’m not ready to make new years resolutions as of yet, so can I make like Valentine’s resolutions instead?! Am I allowed?
Haha. And I can’t seem to make myself think back over the past year to realize what it was all about. You know how you kind of say, “oh yeah 1999 was the year that… and 2001 was that year… and 2006 was the year I…” Well I can’t really say what 2007 was about. Maybe it was about my promotion in my job, I guess that’s what it’ll have to be for now. I got a pretty awesome promotion at work where I got some nice benefits to go along with it. It’s pretty interesting. I’ve learned a TON and have found new ways to enjoy my new job.
Since going home to California for my holiday vacation and not spending hardly ANY time on the computer, I noticed that staring at a computer the entire day at work is hard on my eyes and gives me headaches sometimes!! I came back and within like the first day, halfway through it, I already had a headache! And I got one the next day too, and that’s the only conclusion I can come up with. The vacation was exactly what I needed though! I needed to get AWAY from my cold, lonely basement and be with my family!!! It was so nice to see my entire family and play with all my nieces and nephews! We also went to Alcatraz the day after Christmas, that was really neat to see the history of that island! I took some great pictures! Haven’t uploaded them yet but I will sometime I’m sure! I’m always slow on uploading my photos. LOL. Well, just wanted a quick update on here so no one was complaining about me not updating it for so long. Haha! K well thanks for reading and enjoy 2008!!!
