Don’t Take Life For Granted

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

Life… is fragile, it’s precious, it’s short …enjoy it!! Smile, say hello to people you don’t know who look like they could use a friend, don’t take your friends or family for granted. Don’t worry so much over the little things, don’t fight over the little irritations of life, say I love you to the people you love. Enjoy your time where ever you are, at work, at the gym, at a friend’s house, at the library, resting at your house, in a park …just enjoy every moment.

You never know when life with throw you a huge trial and thwart all your dreams and goals. Your health is fragile. And these days there are more and more diseases, illnesses, crime, accidents, addictions, catastrophes, you name it… it’s probably here on earth. Be careful. Give support to those around you. Donate to charity when you can.

Right now, I’m hearing people all around me who are gearing up with food storage. They are very smart, you never know what could happen tomorrow. Be safe.

Yay for May

Monday, May 5th, 2008

Hooray that it’s May! I love the month of May. Why, you say? Because it contains my birthday!

Wow, check out that little rhyming action. I’m a poet and I didn’t even know it. But anyway, back to May… My birthday is on the 11th and I’m going home to California to enjoy it with my sisters and mom. We’re making it a Girls’ Weekend actually! It also happens to be Mother’s Day on the 11th. So my mom and I get to share the celebration together! :)

I’m also getting psyched for all of my side projects. I’ve been slacking a bit on this website, but I plan to get it lookin’ good and up to my taste -by the end of this month, that’s the due date. And I’m making more cards lately and uploading them to my card site, so that’s cool. I had a Photo shoot to do a week ago that turned out really fun and cool. I feel like I can really do all these things, not just try. Oh, another thing I love doing is making jewelry, like necklaces and bracelets. I’m working on a sleek black necklace right now with a silver jewel in the middle. It’s going to look stunning, the beads are beautiful! Well, I’m off to live my life in this wonderful month of May. Yay!

Prioritize

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

I really need to prioritize my life again! I’m allowing certain values to fall apart while thinking other values are more important. But guess what?! They’re not more important, I’ve gotten it in my head that they COULD be and that kicks out the other ones. Yeah I’m sure this is confusing…

So that’s why I need to re-prioritize my beliefs and values. Like being to important things ON TIME! That is my number one priority right now and trying to get motivation to do things that are hard for me to do. Anyway, that’s what I need to do in the next few days. And blogging will be a priority too, just need to find out where it falls, in line. :) Lata!

Research and Depression - new findings!

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

I read today from ScienceDaily that researchers are finding new ways to see if someone has depression, by a simple test. Plus, they can monitor responses to medicine therapy and get results within 5-6 days, instead of waiting a full month. That’s awesome!

From: Researchers May Have Found Test For Depression
“ScienceDaily (Mar. 12, 2008) — Researchers from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine have discovered that a change in the location of a protein in the brain could serve as a biomarker for depression, allowing a simple, rapid, laboratory test to identify patients with depression and to determine whether a particular antidepressant therapy will provide a successful response.

“This test could serve to predict the efficacy of antidepressant therapy quickly, within four to five days, sparing patients the agony of waiting a month or more to find out if they are on the correct therapeutic regimen,” said Mark Rasenick, UIC distinguished university professor of physiology and biophysics and psychiatry.

Despite decades of research, the biological basis of depression is unknown, and the molecular and cellular targets of antidepressant treatment remain elusive, although it is likely that these drugs have one or more primary targets.

Rasenick said the discovery could help millions who suffer from undiagnosed depression or receive unsuccessful treatment.”

Amazing new research findings and discoveries! Imagine… just taking a simple test to find out if you have a chemical imbalance in your brain. I’m excited for new technology, future research, and continued progress in the health field. :)
