Finance Struggle

Money!

If I didn’t know how it felt to struggle financially, NOW I do. This economy is ruining me. The job market is still scarce for the kind of jobs I’m qualified for. I apply and apply to jobs week after week and maybe get like one interview but they always seem to turn my resume down. Life is hard work! Let’s just throw that out there. Everyone knows it. And I have to accept it.

It is not fun to be in the situation I’m in. I’ve been lucky thus far to get by. But it’s not working anymore. I see so many people around me homeless…jobless… The recession is not getting any better, like they talk about.

I’ve been thinking I should go back to school and finish my education. The problem with that is the finances. I would need to apply and really hope and pray to receive a Pell Grant. That’s the only way I would be determined to finish my degree. Sad, but it’s true. I’m tired of struggling for money, for paying back a student loan. Anyway, I’m at a loss for words right now to even finish this blog post. So I have to go.

Finally Friday: Paper Hairclip

Author: marci

I decided this week to create my own hairclip, made from scrapbook paper. I see all these creative ways to make your own hair pieces (bows, flowers, ribbons) and I wanted to jump on the bandwagon.

So I thought of my element. Paper. Yes, I was determined to make it work. And I think it turned out kinda cute.

I sewed the pieces of paper together but then they wouldn’t stay apart like I wanted them to so I added a mini glue dot on each paper to keep it in place. Then I sewed a button on the front for an added bling.

What do you think? Do I have a market to start selling these? Or is it too far-fetched? (I mean, for real… PAPER?!?!?!??)

Cancer-fighting Couples in Food

Today on the Dr. Oz show, I briefly watched and caught the couples of foods you want to cook together to create cancer-fighting powerfoods (or whatever he called them – I made that word up). He made it a game on his show but I’m lame and I’ll just list them the easy way.

  • Salsa and Avocado
  • Chicken and Broccoli
  • Tumeric and Yellow Onions
  • Watercress and Salmon

There you have it. You don’t have to TIVO or DVR the Dr. Oz show ’cause I just gave you the most useful information he provided from today’s show. Eh, I guess you might still want to watch to catch other interesting things to keep your body healthy. Go for it!

Kittens have Names

Author: marci
01 1st, 2011

Hey everyone! I am happy to report we chose names for our new kittens finally. I do not think they are used to their new names yet since they don’t come when called, but we are working on that part. They both come when you call for “kitty” or “kitters” (I love calling them kitters for some reason).

We got them neutered before Christmas so they will never have the joy of becoming a daddy cat but we can help save the current cats that are alive by spaying or neutering. There is an overpopulation of animals today so spaying/neutering is important to get done. You can do it to a cat between ages 8 weeks to 6 years old. They get general anesthesia for the treatment and they give you some pain medication for the cats for the days following. My kittens did not like this pain medicine one bit though. I had to sort of force it in their mouths through a syringe and the medicine would foam up as they tasted it. They both hated getting their medicine but I do think it helped them feel better through the night because they were active and playful afterwards. Anyway, it was very hard for me to drop them off in the early morning to get the procedure done and have to leave them there alone and not pick them up till the afternoon. I cried after we dropped them off.

Now they are 12 weeks old and settling in to their new house and surroundings just fine. They sometimes sleep next to me in the bed because I can tell they just love being around a human. The black one is very affectionate to me and the orange one loves to sleep right in between my legs or even on top of my hip (as I’m laying on my side). So fun to have them in our lives!
